Looks like Orange County — all of Southern California, in fact — is in for a hotter-than-normal summer this year. That means we’ll all be looking for ways to keep cool, and so will your Sub-Zero refrigerator.
In really hot weather you may notice your refrigerator running more often. That’s because it has to work harder to cool air and circulate it throughout the interior. Even in an air-conditioned house, the broiling outside temperature can affect your Sub-Zero’s performance. When a refrigerators condenser is dirty, it works harder to pull in and filter the air through and cool the condenser causing the motor to overheat —potentially leading to costly repairs.
A clean condenser is essential to keeping your Sub-Zero refrigerator in top-operating condition. The condenser relies on airflow to work properly and any obstruction can cause the unit to fail. A dirty condenser affects the cooling functions, leading to warm temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer compartments, and that may even cause condensation or frost buildup.
That is why Factory Certified Sub-Zero repair companies recommend scheduling a condenser cleaning before the summer heat kicks in. You can (and should) perform some at-home maintenance yourself (see our FAQ for tips on how to do this), but we recommend a professional condenser cleaning by a Factory Certified technician every six months.
So schedule a professional condenser cleaning now, before the weather — and your Sub-Zero — really heats up.
